"While society is still set up to favor men, belligerence grates."

Imagine the outrage if these stats in the Western World were not the converse:

75-80% of the opiate crisis deaths are women

70-72% of the homeless are women

90-92% of workplace deaths are women

93% of inmates in prison are women while only 6% are men

80% of Clergy-related sexual abuse victims were/are young girls or women

50% of spousal assault victims are women *

OR:

6X as many black women as black men are victims of homicide

4X as many white women as white men are victims of homicide

3X as many women commit suicide as do men

On average women die at the age of 78 while patriarchal men get to coast past them to the ripe old age of 84.

Would not the virtue signalling begin with statements like, 'We must be doing something wrong here!"

And further studies or commissions would be formed into finding out ways to better the lives of women.

Comprehensive enactments would take place and laws enacted to correct the damage done to one gender at the expense of the other...as it should be:

"Treating fellow humans as equals from the get go regardless of gender or genitals might be a smarter way forward."

Otherwise, great article. Thank you.

* No disrespect to female victims of spousal homicide, the stats for which are horrifically imbalanced.

BTW: I tend to go with the Swedes on their data of spousal assault as they are usually far more politically incorrect if not ruthless in their gathering.

(According to estimates by the National Council for Crime Prevention (BRÅ), at least 7% of the Swedish population is exposed yearly to domestic violence, both men and women in roughly equal parts. However, women are much more likely to report recurring violence and to end up hospitalized)
