I too thought that the script writers had read and brilliantly woven in Frazier's The Golden Bough, Bullfinch's Mythology, Carl Jung's Understanding the Collective Unconscious, Joseph Campbell's The Power of Myth, and his 'Mask of Eternity' interview, finishing off with Grave's The White Goddess: all of course as primers.
