Really important to also mention:
“Reports surfaced Wednesday that one of the gunmen in the Littleton, Colorado, school shooting, Eric Harris, was rejected by Marine Corps recruiters days before the Columbine High School massacre because he was under a doctor’s care and had been prescribed an anti-depressant medication, used to treat obsessive compulsive disorder.” (http://edition.cnn.com/HEALTH/9904/29/luvox.explainer/
How many other mass killings are the result of mental illness or are the erroneously diagnosed fed a deadly pharmaceutical brew?
The prescription of psychotropics which can and do create a myriad of side-effects, some exacerbating an instability to the point of a violent acting out, is behind far too many mass killings.
Need we look any further for the Newtown mass killing poster child of over-prescription, Adam Lanza, to know that maybe sleep deprivation and autism-spectrum disorder is at play? We don’t need to medicate emotional concerns with toxic chemicals which may bring out the worst in ‘patients.’
Health, most importantly the mental health of young people — hell all people, is just too important to trust to BIG PHARMA and their profit-driven sociopathic CEO’s and shareholders.
Questions like why are we creating such enormous anxiety issues in our young must be answered and then addressed.
Perfectionism is my answer and social media is feeding it the emotional equivalent of growth hormones.
Lighten up with our children and keep those never-ending connections away from them as long as possible and maybe, just maybe, we won’t need to medicate them or subject them to the trauma of a mass shooting.
