Please, noted theologian, former Anglican Minister and published author Tom Harpur wrote about the plethora of other cultures' mythologies in the Christian religion, some predating the Christ myths by centuries, in his book 'The Pagan Christ'.

'The Pagan Christ' was written by a man who preached from the Bible for decades and when he started looking into comparative mythologies felt he could no longer in good conscience extol a construct taken from other cultures.

For instance, he makes many many allusions to the early Christian church's main competitor, the Cult of Mithras, one which should stand out is the celebration of Mithras' birthday, held of course on December 25th.

He goes on to show with logic and careful parallel, you know rational thought, that Christ is the Egyptian God Horus, Mary is Isis and Osiris is Yahweh.

And that's not even getting into the countless similarities of Christ to Dionysus. As sons of Gods who mated with a human being, they're both crucified, they are both Gods of Wine and they both ride a processional ass to a sacred city.

Dionysus rides an Ass and his feet do not touch water is the same as Jesus 'walking on water'.

And they can both resurrect the dead!

Any work studying the Christian narrative must make mention of these obvious connections.
