I'd say that big pharma's psychopathically driven opioid drug dealing nightmare also took a huge toll in all small towns across North America.

The Billions in fines Big Pharma have paid SHOULD go to the communities most affected. That would be a start.

Trump offers a Saturday Morning Cartoon/ Professional Wrestling style of politics. It's easy because he pretends to be the benevolent 'good guy' preaching tribalism to his people, long disenfranchised and ignored.

Of course he knew their anger and despair and ignited it, fueled it and almost won another term.

And just like Pro-Wrestling's The Undertaker, he'll still come back to haunt the ring.

Those who practice Identity Politics, The Woke and SJW, most often Democrats, actually think that shame and blame will bring some gain.

Gain yes. But not for them. Idealogues often lack irony, a key element in the understanding and therefore avoidance of hubris.
