Judith,
Brilliantly articulated and lamentably it of course it puts you in the apostate column. I am so saddened by the demonization of all men, which is now being transferred to all white people.
I mean I taught The Crucible for 24 years, is there no cause for a pause in this madness of absolutism and overt generalization?
I recently opined to one black writer, who said to white people that if your black friend tells you you’re not racist, they’re probably lying.
I asked her for help to explain how the 250,000 to 300,000 white people who marched with Martin Luther King in his 1963 “March to end Racism…” were racists.
I asked her to explain the 8% of all marriages in the US which were biracial and the 14% of new marriages (last four years) which were also biracial.
Did it mean that half of those people who married a white person married a racist? That’s millions of people who have managed to bridge the racial divide.
Lastly, I asked her to maybe tell a story about a white person who made a difference in her life, and if she couldn’t find one, then how about researching one of the 250,000–300,000 who screwed their courage to the sticking place way back in 1963.
She blocked me…meaning that my response to her could not be read...even by myself. That’s a level of fragile censorship to me and what’s next: anyone who challenges one of these dogmas is a racist, misogynistic rape culture enabler?
No one should be above debate.
Thanks again for your cogent reply. Keep writing and don’t give up.
