Jenn, in British Columbia, where I live, there are far more missing/disappeared men than women. Unfortunately, the press is more interested in virtue signalling the loss of a woman than a man or boy.

For instance, $57.8 million dollars was recently spent on an inquest into Missing and Murdered Indigenous women: some 1000 plus over a 30 year span. It was money well spent. But that’s not the point.

You see, there were supposedly three times that number of Murdered and Missing Indigenous men. There was no inquiry for when the leadership of the MMIW, made up of predominantly Indigenous Women, were approached to widen their scope, they did not want to include the loss of their brothers and fathers and sons.

The same holds true for the 57-63% of the missing people in Canada who are men.

My Province has the highest number of missing people.

Here’s a chart outlining this sad outrage and lack of balanced and appropriate action:

Lastly, thank you for publishing this story…for it points out that it is not just women who disappear and suffer. Men in Canada are 4.5 times more likely to be victims of murder or assault.
