It's the converse.

The Holocaust Movie/Book/ Documentary machine, the constant use of Nazi to describe any political tenant which even remotely looks right wing, means that the stain can never be removed, and Germany can never really criticize Israel.

This year's multi-academy award nominated, "The Zone of Interest" come to mind?

It must be particularly galling if not ironic that some of the money Germany sends to Israel is used to build walls around a dispossessed people.

"German reparation payments total some 82 billion euro (2022). Around 1.44 billion euro is paid from the federal budget each year for pension and care costs of victims of Nazi persecution, many of whom live in Israel (2022 figures)."

Even worse?

According to Nicaragua:

"...Germany approved deliveries of military equipment worth €326.5m (£279.2m) to Israel in 2023, 10 times as much as in 2022, but German lawyers told the court there had been a significant decrease in sales since then, falling to €1m (£855,000) in March 2024."
