In order to explain a MAGA rally and Trump's professional wrestling style of oration, this Friday I showed two of my friends the Vince McMahon-Trump-WWF-WWE 'Battle of the Billionaires' series.

Trump 'takes down' McMahon and later after a proxy non-staged 'real wrestling match', Trump shaves McMahon's head.

See:

I then showed them a typical Trump rally: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBsqSzN1gHs

They were stunned.

The formula is essentially the same...no one loves the WWF-WWE fans more than Trump...McMahon doesn't: no one loves his MAGA supporters more than Trump...Sleepy Joe and his left-wing Democrats don't.

It's entertainment of course but with a deadly twist: just as many people appear to believe in Trump as 'fans' appear to believe in the ludicrous circus called professional wrestling.

And that is frighting.

How did this 'professional wrestling-political cross-over occur?

I've written this before but too many Americans are over-fed and under-nourished, over-stimulated and under-educated and over-taxed and under-represented.

It's almost as if the whole Trump era is indeed a circus and we the patrons the paying clowns.

But, and its a big but, he and his minions did not just 'poof' appear out of ill-informed overt cynicism and will with the next election disappear -- there is no room for that kind of simple complacency.

There's class warfare at play here and its core is the division of wealth and the distancing of hope.

But back to MacMahon, he has been justifiably accused of abusing his 'athletes' and if the allusion is adroit, it is no different for Trump and his followers: They want to believe in the charade of a good guy manager and therefore cannot scent the betrayals.

So, the reality is that Trump is no different than McMahon and the spectre of Trump's 'Proud Boys', and others of their sorry ilk, ready to jump over the ropes and enact their dark hero's edicts, does not bode well for America and the world.
