You are spot on with some women losing the chance at motherhood or marriage or family, often because of poverty, and taking it all out on the children they could never have.

I cannot think of the suppression of such rage as anything but a suppurating wound lanced with rulers and pointers and the subsequent cries of children a balm to their tortured souls.
