Ellen,

Born here, same as my father.

As I didn't steal anyone's children, I am staying.

Nonetheless, Canadians must atone for the contextualized historical wrongs committed in Canada's name.

And guess what?

We have and are. It started with an apology and a Truth and Reconciliation process: still ongoing.

And you know nothing of my efforts as an English teacher to highlight the Residential School Disaster by bringing in Kim Soo Goodtrack, a Lakota artist and teacher, to talk about the Residential School Disaster to my privileged Secondary school students from 1998 until 2009.

I used Three Day Road and retired before Richard Wagamese's, Indian Horse, was published, otherwise I would have also used it.

I have lived and worked in Israel on Kibbutz Kifar Gilaedi and travelled throughout both the country and the occupied West Bank but not Gaza. Have written this before but, as all people of the world should, I visited Yad Vashem, and stood silent in both homage and horror.

But back to the main: Israel has not apologized. Nor is it willing to undergo a Truth and Reconciliation process which should start with a bold fact: the Palestinian people had nothing to do with European genocide and therefore, they should not have had to pay, and should not continue to have to pay and pay and pay.
