And I am equally stunned by Israeli jails and torture centers and illegal actions in the West Bank, and the wholesale destruction of Gaza. All actions which are no longer in the shadow world, even the rape allegations have been proven to be true.
My point is that according to the Geneva Convention, to which Israel is a signatory, an 'Occupied People' have the right to resist and soldiers/observers in uniforms are legitimate targets.
Civilians are NOT. Any actions, especially deliberate actions against civilians are war crimes and should be prosecuted as such.
Or am I wrong to write that both Gaza and the West Bank are occupied territories? And have been since 1967?
Kidnapping civilians is also a war crime. It's much more murky when an occupied people capture an enemy combatant but slaughtering and/or kidnapping civilians are despicable acts.
Lastly, Red Cross observers? In a combat zone where anyone, even surrendering Israelis can be shot or when food and water is cut off?
What about NGO personnel like world-central-kitchen-workers, wanting to feed civilians and getting killed for their efforts?
Even better?
How about allowing journalists into Gaza? You know, to get to the truth.
The main topic should be how Israel can repair its reputation, currently in tatters, without resorting to 'poor me' semantics, or the more ludicrous statement: all criticism of Israel is anti semitic.
And Israel should stop trying to kill its way into a Greater Israel, which will only further inflame the Arab world, as disunified as it is.
IOW, Greater Israel has a population of 7.3 Million Jews, ' 2.1 million Arab Israelis, 2.1 million Gazan and 2.4 million West Bank Palestinians. Either give them a rightful place in Israeli society or allow them to form their own country.
To not do so will unfortunately only bring about more anti-Israel sentiment: currently at an all time high.
And I worked in Kibbutz Kifar Giladi, visited Vad Yashem and did at one time look favourably on Israel, so I write this with conviction: your people are better than this.
